Time to Give Thanks

Thanksgiving is right around the corner and I am looking forward to spending time with family around a delicious table full of yummy food! We have many traditions in my family that I will definitely pass on to my kids but some of them are just like everyone else such as enjoying a great day of football while snacking throughout the day or getting together with the women to make a strategy for the following day of shopping! And last but certainly not least is just enjoying a day off of work/school to spend with the ones you love most and be thankful that they are in your life!

Target and Twitter moms wants to know what are your traditions you will pass on so check out this great contest!

My Green Living Tips

These days it's all about living "green". I believe everyone should take their part by living a little greener as well cause if we don't take care of this place who will. I have to admit I could go to more extremes and be even greener but I do what I can where I can. Here are a few things I do that I know anyone can do:

1. Instead of buying cases and cases of bottled water buy a water filtration system such as a pitcher or the ones that go on your faucet. You can fill up reusable bottles with either or have cold clean water with the pitcher. It saves time and money and is very green!

2. Unplug appliances when you're not using them. Or, use a "smart" power strip that senses when appliances are off and cuts "phantom" or "vampire" energy use. Whenever my 8 year old is finished playing his video games I taught him to turn off the switch :)

3. Wash clothes in cold water whenever possible. As much as 85 percent of the energy used to machine-wash clothes goes to heating the water.

There are so many more green living tips I could share but these are just some of the basic easy to do and easy to teach tips any family can do to start living a greener life!
