Episencial All Natural Skincare

I was recently chosen to participate in a MommyParties & Mom Select party with the new Episencial all natural skincare line.

It was a lot of fun learning about this wonderful new product! All of the mommies fell in love with products and were thrilled to be able to take home a full size product to try out at home along with a few samples.

Not only is this product safe but it's natural and as a mom we want nothing but the best for our children and this product is by far the best out on the market and I'm so thankful I got the chance to learn more about it.

If you would like to learn more about Episencial and their all natural products check our their website http://episencial.com/

I have heard many great things about Shutterfly but haven't had the opportunity to try out any of their products so when I heard they were giving away 40 free personalized stationary cards to review or giveaway I was so excited.

My son's birthday is coming up next month so this will be a great way to see how wonderful Shutterfly really is!

Healthy Smiles

I was asked to share five simple things you can do for your child to help keep their smiles healthy and bright.

As a child the last thing on your mind is your teeth so as adults we have to help encourage a healthy and bright teeth lifestyle such as reminding to brush morning and night. To make sure my son brushes his teeth in the morning I have the toothbrush waiting for him so there is no excuse to not brush his teeth.

Eating habits: my son has already felt the pain of having caps due to cavities so we limit his sugar intake.

Floss: We make it fun we buy the bright colored floss so he can enjoy it.

We make frequent dental visits so we can make sure to prevent anymore cavities.

Chewing Trident sugar free gum for 20 minutes after a meal can help fight cavities. My son loves gum and well I love that Trident helps him fight against cavities.

Fracture

Fracture is changing photo home decor, and is looking to get the word out about its new one-piece picture and frame made from printed glass that mounts to directly to your wall quickly and easily.

Printing and framing pictures is often a huge hassle and can become really expensive really fast. Between getting your photos printed, finding a suitable frame, and figuring out how to mount them, the frustrations (and dollars) have mounted, and the magic has gone away. However, you now have a contemporary, affordable, and practical way to show off all your favorite family pictures -- Fracture. Fracture is the fastest, easiest, best way to get your pictures from your camera to your wall.

Fracture's introductory product lets you print your digital pictures right onto glass! There's no paper, film or anything involved. Simply ink and glass. We have effectively combined printing, framing, and mounting into one simple process. You upload your photo to FractureMe.com, we print it on glass, and send it on it's way with everything you need to mount and display. It's a one-stop, complete photo decor solution.

Fractures are very safe: all sharp edges are removed, and they are completely okay to touch and handle.
Fractures are durable: the prints are shatter proof (unlike traditional glass frames), and the images will not fade for years beyond average prints.
Fractures are very practical and elegant: you can use them for any occasion, from Christmas and graduation gifts, to simple "Thank You's".
Fractures are for everyone: from avid photographers to snap happy point-and-shoot lovers, anyone can get Fractured!

Fracture has offered to let me review a personalized 8x10 for free if I am one of the first 100 bloggers. If I am selected I will post a follow up post about the product.

Family Time

I was asked to share 5 of my favorite family time ideas.

As a single mom working full time it's hard to find the time out of the day to just sit back and relax and enjoy some family time but I always make sure to do so by doing some of the following:

1. Game night
2. Movie night
3. Go out to dinner as a family
4. Dinner at home at the dinner table
5. Day/Night out with the family

Back To School Time

Ok so it's back to school season as you know and just like myself I know a lot of parents get really stressed out. Especially when your a single parent like me. But there are many things I do so that I don't get too stressed. Here are some of my back to school tips:

1. Shop Early
There is nothing like waiting till the last minute trying to find what your child needs when there is not much to chose from.

2. Shop supercenters
I don't like to buy from smaller stores just because they like to overprice.

3. Buy more than needed if there is a price you can't beat. You can always use it the following year or throughout the school year!

4. Talk to other moms see what they have more of and need so you can help them find what they need so they can help you find what you need.

5. Shop Tax-Free season. This is a great time to stock up and save on the things you have to buy already for school!

6. I like to buy on sale throughout summer so that when it comes time for back to school I am not as pressured by all the purchases I need to make.

7. Second-hand stores are a great way to find some new and gently used clothes as well.

8. Shop ads and keep a lookout for sales there will be plenty right before school starts

9. Recycle- sometimes you can reuse certain items such as backpacks and lunchkits.

10. Online purchasing- I do a lot of this since I cannot shop the stores during the week. You will find a lot of great deals too!!

My Toyota

As many of you have heard about the Toyota recalls I'm sure your questioning the quality and dependability of a Toyota...

Well from my personal experience I have to say I would not want to purchase another brand of vehicle after owning a Toyota for so long. I have purchased other vehicles before owning my first Toyota and I have to say I have never been so satisfied as I am with my Toyota!

From purchasing the vehicle to maintaining it, it has been wonderful. The dealership was very fun and friendly and they remain that way after all these years. I love the fact that I know I am making the best investment I can in a vehicle with Toyota with the great re-sell value.

I have not had one problem with my Toyota since purchasing it and that means a lot to me because I am a single mother and I have to have a car I can depend on! I do plan on upgrading my vehicle throughout the years but there is no other place I want to go to other than my Toyota!

Disclosure: I'm participating in a Toyota/TwitterMoms campaign, which inspired this post. My opinions, thoughts and feelings are my own. As a TwitterMom, I'm eligible for a courtesy gift of $50.

Prevent Summer "Brain Drain"

School is out and children are so excited that summer is here, but it won't be long until you hear the infamous, "I'm bored" from your little ones.

Prevent Summer "Brain Drain" by planning ahead!

Primrose Schools, the leader in educational child care, recommends encouraging imaginative play and having a plan in place to keep children's minds engaged during the summer months. Studies show that without stimulation, children can lose up to 60 percent of what they learned during the school year.

That's why Dr. Mary Zurn, Vice President of Education for Primrose, has come up with the list of ideas below as a starting point for summer activities that offer a balance between the freedom of child-initiated play time and more structured activities.

Here are 11 ideas parents can use to keep young minds active during the summer months:

1.Boredom Buster Jar: At the beginning of the summer, sit down with your family and brainstorm a list of activities that can be done alone or that you can enjoy doing together. Encourage your children to share their own ideas and help you decorate and label a simple jar as the family "Boredom Buster Jar." They'll feel more involved in the project and more likely to think this is a "neat" idea, if they participate in the creation and idea generation. Next, write everyone's ideas down on slips of paper and as a group decide which ones should go in the jar. Anyone in the family can pull any idea out of the jar to fight the summertime boredom blues.

2.Stories Alive: It sounds too simple, but reading is one of the most important waysto keep young minds engaged during the summer.Make reading even more fun by finding ways to bring the stories to life. For example, in the book Roxaboxen by Alice McLerran, children create a make-believe town in the desert out of rocks, boxes, and their imaginations. Read the book with your children and then challenge them to create their own town with materials they find in the backyard.

3.Art Start Box: You'll need to gather basic art supplies-child safe scissors, glue, markers, tape and construction paper. Put them in a special box along with empty oatmeal boxes and paper towel rolls, colorful magazines and bits of aluminum foil. Occasionally add a special surprise like chalk, stickers, or stamp pads so there's always something new for the children to find. Even if you normally have these supplies around the house, it's fun for children to know that the Art Start Box is just for them. They'll probably have some good ideas of other household items that can be recycled to fuel their creative energies.

4.Family Performances: Break out old clothes or costumes and encourage children to make up characters and create a play to act out. They are the directors, actors, and producers. They can also make musical instruments out of pots/pans, wooden spoons, empty canisters and have a parade; or everyone can play along to your family's favorite songs. Record or video the performances, and enjoy the replay. You'll also be capturing a bit of family history everyone will enjoy for years to come.

5.Family Dance Party: Crank up the music and encourage your entire family to boogie down. Dancing gives children a great outlet for self-expression through their own motion and helps build self-esteem. It also enhances motor and coordination development by incorporating skills like jumping, landing and leaping. Dancing is a great activity that can involve the whole family and doesn't take very much preparation.

6.Fort Building: Children love to build all kinds of structures--from small towns to large towers. Constructing forts or tents is an activity that can keep children focused and problem solving for hours. All the items you need can be found around the house- some chairs, cushions, blankets, and of course adult supervision.

7.Cookbook Fun: Have you ever shared your favorite cookbook with your children? Take it out and ask your children to choose a recipe to try. Measuring can be a fun and easy way to keep math skills fresh.

8.Summer Scrapbook: All you need for this project is a spiral notebook. Encourage everyone in the family to draw pictures of favorite activities and collect mementos from special events throughout the summer. Children love to go back through scrapbooks and albums and tell about what happened at each occasion. They will also be building their storytelling skills at the same time.

9.Listening Game: Lie down in the backyard, in the den or at the park and listen. What do you hear? Do you hear what I hear? Can you imitate the sound? This is similar to watching the clouds and naming the shapes, and it encourages everyone to slow down and focus on listening.

10.Camping Out: Pretend to campout in the backyard. Plan a meal, pack a backpack and set up a campsite. You might even decide to spend the night!

11.Scavenger Hunt: Make a list or picture cards of common household items and have your children find the items on the list. Invite friends or neighbors to join in the fun to make it a competition.

To find these and other great tips for parents, check out Dr. Zurn's blog at DrZandme.com. And don't forget to grab Dr. Z's Widget while you're there!

KC Distant Learning Review

Today's students, known as the "iGeneration", are the first to crave and benefit from education "on demand" - or the option to choose where, when and how they want to learn.

To put it in context, the "iGeneration" has never known life without the Internet, being mobile, using avatars, IMing or choosing and watching content whether they are at home, in the car, at a football game or shopping at the mall. To reach them in their high-tech, high-touch world, many parents and educators are looking at how to rewire schools to match how the iGeneration learns.

Taking classes online is one way to give middle and high school students (and their school districts) new options to learn using preferred tools in a familiar environment, and even experience enhanced, one-on-one relationships with educators. Whether they're in need of more assistance, looking for wider range of classes or simply prefer to learn in a medium that they have grown up with, online learning can be a great way to fit your child's needs.

Students are increasingly able to take online classes in partnership with their local school districts. Schools facing budget cuts and a reduction in teachers are turning to online classes to supplement their curriculum, from offering classes for which they have no teachers, Advanced Placement® classes for students who excel, and credit recovery options for students who struggle. In fact, today there are 1 million children learning online, either part time, full time or between school terms. Additionally, more than 20 percent of schools and educational institutions around the country offer online classes today, and that number should grow by another 30 percent within a couple of years, according to industry research. (Simba Information).

KC Distance Learning (KCDL) offers online learning options to fit all types of students and learning situations.

From the home-schooled family, the student brushing up on skills to compete at the next level or the child facing challenges in traditional schools such as bullying, KCDL provides academic solutions to fit your child's needs. We welcome you to look through the website at www.onlineschoolsolutions.com, and then click on your state to find the KCDL online school serving your area.

Here is a demonstration where you can view the tools and technologies online students use to engage with their teachers and classmates. Click on the following link to experience how students engage with their teachers and classmates online, in a recorded session where students from around the country come together outside of class to discuss the results of the "iGeneration" survey with their teacher and hear their insights. http://smub.it/jlj/iqlive

Also, to experience the robust curriculum offered by online learning, click on the following link - http://aventalearning.com/aventa-capabilities-demo. As any parent of more than one child will tell you, things are much easier the second time around. 100 Push Up Challenge

I am excited to take the 100 Push Up Challenge! I have been in the gym for about 10 weeks now and have lost 19lbs total. My goal weightloss is to lose 50lbs so I am always looking for new ideas, routines etc to change it up so I won't hit a plateau. We are having a challenge here at work and I gotta say it is great motivation!! So far I am in the lead now I just have to keep it! I have no idea how many pushups I can do because I don't do any in any of my work outs so this will be interesting!
I hope to get the infamous Jenifer Aniston "roller coaster" arms by the time summer is here and this is a great way to achieve it!!

I am a follower and subcriber of A Wrestling Addicted Mommy. She is challenging herself to do 100 pushups. I read her post and was thinking this could be fun. So I checked out hundredpushups.com and I am joining her on the challenge. It starts today, so if you want to join hurry.

“What are your top 5 New Year's resolutions for getting healthy and fit in 2010?”

Ubisoft Your shape wants to know “What are your top 5 New Year's resolutions for getting healthy and fit in 2010?” Well mine are:

1. Better eating habits.

2. Exercise on a regular basis.

3. Drinking plenty of water.

4. Taking vitamins on a daily basis.

5. Getting more sleep.

As a full time working mom I do not have much time to exercise or the desire to leave home once I am home. So I am planning on purchasing the WII and everything that will help me achieve my goal weight this year. When I found out the Ubisoft Your Shape Game was giving away 5 copies through Twitter Moms I jumped at the opportunity to win it before I was gonna buy it cause as a single mom every little bit helps.
